InterAct Club

InterAct s a worldwide teen Rotary affiliate required to give service internationally, to build better global relations, as well as to their local communities - hence the name Inter- (international) -Act (action).

PTHS InterAct currently has 33 proven members who met set standards by end of first semester; volunteered at least the minimum required service hours, helped on fundraising and paid their dues. The club is ready to reach out to more Freshmen and Sophomores to build up membership for next school year.

This year's InterAct members have worked as Grant Street classroom aides, a counselor for Jefferson County's summer History Camp for youth, put in many many hours at our Foodbank unloading trucks, stocking shelves and serving clients, serving senior meals, and as mentors of younger students for the Y's Building Futures program.

Supporting family fun, InterAct club members ran the "Lawn Pinball Game" at the Family Fourth celebration in July, helped with "Golfing in the Dark" and staffed children's games for "Fist Nite" on New Year'sEve. InterAct's brave young citizens also stepped forward to "Walk in Her Shoes" (red high heels, often with their lettermen's jackets) to raise community awareness of domestic and sexual abuse.

Reaching beyond their national boundaries with humanitarian aide,InterAct supports 4 KIVA micro loans and helped sponsor a group of Rwandan orphans working their way through school by earning income on village improvement projects. This group of fine young men and women truly make their community and the world a better place, developing the "Service above Self" habit of a good Rotarian.
