Senior Class Poem 2011

It’s 2011 and these are some tech-crazy teens,
Not surprising these students have electronic dreams,
Facebook in class?  It’s just not allowed,
but these students are so virtual they could have their own cloud.
So if you want to find folks after grad night is done,
Farmville on Facebook?  That’s so 2001.
Check the new PTville game they’ll design it themselves,
Jade will have her own little posse of elves.
Nathaniel will code the app, put it online,
Matt Doan will create our virtual PTville sign,
Ashlee of course would be our PTville queen,
She’ll hire Bere to police the whole scene,
Mahala and Lydia can organize about any PTville event,
Spencer will drive the town car if you don’t mind a dent,
Austin and Liz can paint murals to help set the mood,
Then Justin P. and Christian will farm all our food,
Brandon M. can be our Westsound-trained mechanic
Kris Windle will eat anything we grow, just don’t label it organic.
Our virtual town will have CEO Chris Shively making the green,
And Sharonda will fashion our PTville cusine,
In a game, the environment can add the pizazz,
But who needs flowers and music when we have our own Rosie and Jazz?
And holidays?  Our town’ll do them right,
Just ask Kerri, Caroline and Riz--tonight’s Girls' Night!
Emilina can make sure PTville pays all its bills,
Someone just break it to Louis we can’t name our town Serbia-ville.

Super powers? You bet this class has them all,
Justin can throw anything right through a brick wall,
Hab’s speed, his “ca-cah!” he’s got super flair,
While Sam and Lacey can both work magic with hair,
Cooper we know is the lord of the seas,
While Megan & Toby can make paint do what ever they please,
Sam Gordon and Ayla can make math problems dance
Sam M. & Alex’s guitar shredding puts folks in a trance.
Christian L-I. worked spells with CGE,
Jarrod made Halloween full of ghouls and glee,
But the most ready-made superhero we know?
With his jacket and his shades, it’s got to be Joe.

And for our superheros, Taelor can Photoshop their faces just right,
then Fenner can silk screen them onto their own spandex tights.
Speaking of style, with clothes this class went it’s own way,
but we all want to dress like Roman at the end of the day.
In years to come when you check the label on clothes,
You can say, “I went to school with Magnolia, and she designed those!”
And James’ hockey shorts really became quite iconic,
Maybe too short... but don’t worry they’re ironic.

In sports 2011 was particularly rich,
Teslin could make batters cower by just pretending to pitch.
In soccer, Edwin and Omar could carry us far,
But to get the next level we sent for Vojtech, our imported Czech Star.
And who’s on the sidelines calling the games?
It’s Luke N. of PT Sportscenter fame.
Port Townsend plays golf--Who knew we were good?
But there at State finals Jenny G. and Sean stood.
Zach, Ryan, Mikail wrestled like pros
But Tyler could out run them all, everyone knows.

The class of ‘11 really travelled the world,
In Sweden, Zach Parker tried surstrommingand didn’t once hurl,
Chenpeng: Ni shuo Zhongwen hen hao,
From Germany, Jana was our first sophomore/senior--wow!
Athena intrepidly explored Tanzania alone,
While Chelsey and Trey worked on their Thai language tones
Josh K. spent a year in Indonesia face-to-face,
Then smuggled Topaz back to us in his suitcase.

This class had lots of new ideas to share,
Yolande and Elena built Java 101 with coffee andcare,
Marko just wants to explain the rules of THE GAME,
Morrea will philosophize for hours on Rebecca Black’s fame,
Savan and Shelby both got tweens into books,
While Haylee gave the library a new kid-friendly look,
Brian helped others to learn the English they saw,
While Bob was sharing the gospel of Oo-rah.
For turning rust into dreams, Alec’s your man,
Cleaning up streams?  Check out Dan Stran.’s plan.
For Manga, try Trystan, he’ll share all his knowledge,
Zach G. knew so much about fungi, he could start Mushroom College.
Brandon B. can fashion plain metal into a ring,
And if you ask Stephen L. he’d legalize just about everything.
Steven S. can council you when your life seems too grim,
Robert and Giselle can both teach you to stay trim.

Knowledge Bowl, Mock Trial, there are too many teams,
In the end we just need more Luke Jansens it seems,
On the stand, witnesses could cry big fake tears,
and Madaline’s cross-x could put you in prision for years.
But if you’re arrested, just remember one thought
Call ‘Kenzie Sepler she’ll get you out--if you’re guilty or not.
But Mock Trial wasn’t the only place arguments bloomed,
Just lock Nick and Jake alone in a room.

Raven and Rose made drama with heart,
But more entertaining still, they made snarky comments an art,
Running the show whether on stage or behind,
Breanna Moore kept the whole play in mind.

Each year there’re awards: Dynamic Duo, best hair,
But a few were overlooked if we’re gonna be fair,
What about “Terrific Trio”?  Well it’s understood,
Matt, Seiji and Jacob are the B-ball Bro-hood,
“Nicest” that’s easy it’s got to be Ben,
Unless we count Jonas, his nicest-guy twin,
Hands down Kayla wins “Best New Classmate,”
“Most Helpful” that’s Sammie Patten’s key trait,
“Most advanced,” of course Kylen,
and Bella Fox?  “Always Smilin’”
“Quiet but Funny,” well there is some debate,
It could be Max Gunn or our own Ryan A.
“Most likely to miss class then take you down in debate,”
It’s Conakry Coggins... if he’s not running late.
Bridget and Jordan both did Running Start,
Where they could win “Most Caring, with Heart,”
But perhaps the most important award in the end--
Gabe wins hands down for “Mr. Dow’s High School Twin.”

In keeping with our technology theme in 2011,
Mar Vista we’ll have to update to Mar Windows 7,
Where each student gets to find their own way through their courses,
And Carley & Jennifer will get there even faster on horses.
Trevor T. built a guitar, next up’s his own band,
High heels and goals well that’s got to be Kam,
Denelle and Desiree--you might think them quiet,
but sit them together and you’ll get quite a riot.
Matt K has welded a bright future together,
Melissa and Stewart will be boating regardless of weather,
Sabryna was creative, Ashley a worker bee,
Amos on his dirt bike just flew through the trees.

Well that’s all that there is of 2011,
Each on their way to post-graduate heaven,
And when you arrive, left us behind so it seems,
Don’t worry Ms. McMather will still haunt your dreams.
