Egeler, David

Hello My Name Is...

David Egeler

I am a graduate of Washington State University's Edward R. Murrow School of Communication with a B.A. in Broadcast Communications. After finishing school, I lived in Seattle for a year before moving to Portland where I began working in film, television, and commercial productions. Three years later, I moved to Los Angeles where I jumped into the belly of the Hollywood beast. Once there, I was able to earn admission into the Film Editor's Guild (formerly Local 776), and I worked "in house" in post production for the now defunct Rhysher Entertainment Company. A few years later, I decided I wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps to go a different direction, and I became a teacher. I worked nearly 17 years at a Los Angeles middle school minutes away from Hollywood where I worked within both their Film Magnet and Environmental Studies Magnet. Parallel to this, I kept myself busy with a number of creative projects. In the 2000's, I worked in electronic music and did a tour of Mexico, and I did part-time work for an online radio station for 10 years. I created a podcast network in 2010 that I produced for two years. In 2016, I moved to Port Townsend with my wife and two children. I returned to work in feature films in 2018 by shooting the "behind the scenes" footage for the film In Other Words (set to release in late 2020). I hold an M.S. in Special Education, and I possess Washington state endorsements in English Language Arts, Social Studies, English Language Learning, and Special Education, and a CTE certificate for Communication Technology. I also host a radio program called The Subversive Rhythm that explores the music of on African Diaspora on KPTZ 91.9 FM. In addition, I help support students to produce programming for the station.
